Intentionally Disconnecting from the Grid

Yes. We have to learn how to turn off the on switch from time-to-time. That is sage advice offered by Dr. Tomika Williams, a Clinical Nursing Professor, Consultant and Certified Nurse Practitioner.

Dr. Williams believes that in order to take the best care of oneself, we must intentionally turn off the virtual meetings, our devices and go outside for some fresh air. In addition, she says we can’t “rush the journey” of spiritual or physical growth. These are individual growth areas and depend upon each person.

Dr. Williams, whose specialty is gerontology, taking care of elderly people, also states we should learn to find our joy. For her, it’s a relationship with God. For others, it may be a yoga mat.

However you find ways to take care of yourself, just be sure to do it.

To find out more interesting tidbits about self-care, listen to my podcast, This Prof Life under the podcast tab.

A new episode drops Monday, March 1st, at midnight.

Until next time,

Dr. Pat
